Devonna is a Multidisciplinary Artist and Educator from Scarborough, Ontario, with Guyanese roots. She earned an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and was actively involved in her community as a performer, mentor and activist. Devonna earned a Master of Education from Brock University, where she specialized in the social and cultural contexts of education. After earning her teaching certification from York University, she launched her career with the Toronto District School Board. As a classroom teacher, she blended her passion for equity, performance arts and mindfulness to provide meaningful learning experiences for her students. Committed to their well-being, she challenged herself to address her biases to see the gifts in every child she served. Devonna enjoys creating spaces of love and respect wherever she goes. She strives to honour her ancestors by showing up authentically and actively invites others to do the same.
